If you are 40 inches or taller, enter Disneyland and make a run for the just renovated Big Thunder Mountain Railroad! If the line is short, secure your spot and hold tight. You can also grab a FastPass and come back later if that’s easier; however you choose to do it, just make sure this ride is a priority so you can enjoy all of the new updates to this long-time favorite ride!
1. The Upgraded Track and Ride Vehicles
All new track and updates vehicles await Disney fans on the recently renovated Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. The ride was notably smoother and the new ride trains are beautifully detailed.
2. Rainbow Ridge Mining Town has been Restored
The Rainbow Ridge Mining Town dates back to 1956 and welcomes guests to Frontierland. Disney paid careful attention to the restoration of the mining town enabling it to retain the original detailing that fans love. Windows, doors, shutters and some props were reused while others have a new home in the Disney Archives.
3. Beautiful scenery
Portions of the mountains were repainted to offer more visual appeal and attention as you ride the twists and turns of Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. Because this is our favorite family ride with very special meaning to us, we ride it first each time we visit. Enjoying the updates to the scenery is something to take in each and every time!
Big Thunder Mountain Railroad opened on March 17 after being closed since January of 2013 and not all changes and updates have been revealed.
Go ride it and find all of the changes that await! With this ride being magical for many families, we were not the only ones delighting in the changes and showing our Disney Side as we rode it over and over again.
This is a post in my Disney Social Media Moms series. We received reduced fees and accommodations while attending the 2014 Disney Social Media Moms Celebration, but I assure you…I would write about it regardless.
